AN EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS
5 - 19 October, 2008
This exhibition is going to be something a little different for Lasting Impressions. Firstly, it will be the first time Larry Owens has exhibited his striking and energetic work with us. And secondly, this exhibition will be a deviation from Brent's more familiar coastal sandscape paintings. Rather than the usual controlled approach of practised technique and predictable formula, this recent series will reflect a more spontaneous alliance with the creative process.
For both artists the approach has been one of no reason or rhyme, no intellectual rational but more an intuitive response to triggers such as colour, a textured surface, a shape, or just simple random marks.
Though these two artists differ considerably in their artistic history, they share a common thread; their enthusiasm for, and pleasure found in the abstract expressionist approach to painting, which over time has evolved into this unique exhibition.
